pigmentation spots

Brown spots as a result of pigmentation disorders are the visible result of a localized overproduction and accumulation of the pigment melanin, which is responsible for skin color. Melanin is produced by pigment forming cells of the skin, the melanocytes, and passed on to the surrounding skin cells. It absorbs certain UV rays and protects us against their harmful effects. The strength of the melanin formation is hereditary, but also depends on the age of the person and various factors such as the UV rays of the sun, hormonal influences, certain drugs, acne scars or inflammatory or irritant states of the skin.
