Vitamin D occupies a special position among the vitamins, as it is both supplied through the diet and formed by humans themselves through exposure to sunlight. However, vitamin D is found only to a limited extent in food. Its concentration is highest in fatty fish, such as salmon or herring. The supply through the diet is therefore unfortunately not always sufficient, especially with a vegetarian or vegan lifestyle. In addition, the skin's ability to produce vitamin D decreases significantly with age.
If, in addition, less time is spent outdoors and thus the sunlight exposure of the skin is limited, the body's own vitamin D formation also decreases. Vitamin D contributes to the normal function of the immune system and the normal calcium level in the blood, which in turn supports the maintenance of normal bones and teeth.
Furthermore, as we age, the skin's ability to produce vitamin D decreases significantly. If, in addition, less time is spent outdoors in old age and thus the sunlight exposure of the skin is limited, the body's own vitamin D formation also decreases.
Vitamin D Compact contains 5 μg vitamin D from organic mushroom powder in one tablet. This corresponds to 100% of the reference amount according to VO(EC) 1169/2011 for an adult human. Only organically grown mushrooms of the genus Agaricus bisporus (also called two-pored Egerling) are used for production.
The product is gluten-free, lactose-free and vegan.
