Already in the third generation, Alois Gölles runs the fruit growing business in Riegersburg. Immediately after completing his well-founded training at the Höhere Bundeslehranstalt für Wein und Obstbau in Klosterneuburg, he started to refine his father's apples, pears, plums and peaches. In 1979 he distilled his first noble brandies and shortly afterwards, in 1984, he laid the foundation stone for his unique fine vinegar manufactory. Right from the start he had a great success: The apple balsamic vinegar - a worldwide unique specimen (balsamic vinegar was previously only produced from grapes) which was only copied for the first time in 1999, i.e. 15 years later.
Today there are about twenty different noble brandies and as many vinegars which receive highest recognition and awards in the trade press again and again. As one of the pioneers of the Austrian delicatessen scene, he was also one of the first to open the doors of their manufactory. His "Gläserne Manufaktur" has been in existence since 1993. In 2015 it was expanded and redesigned: a refuge for all those who want to learn more about noble brandy and fine vinegar. In the next generation the sons David, Christoph and Johannes are now engaged in the production of gin, whiskey and rum.
